If your church is like our church, the technology you use for worship probably isn’t getting much use right now. Right now our equipment is only seeing use on Saturday or Sunday, and that is only the part of the system needed to record weekly worship. However, that’s all about to change as we start back to worshiping inside.
This downtime during the COVID-19 pandemic is the perfect time to perform that much needed maintenance and updates on those critical pieces of equipment that normally can’t down for an extended period of time. Is the ProPresenter computer a couple of versions behind on OS updates? Is there a firmware update your your soundboard? Need to clean the lens on a camera? This is best time to do all of those.
Why now? Well, not only is there time to make these updates, but there’s also time to iron out any changes or unexpected bugs that might crop up. Worst case scenario is that you have to restore from the back up you made before you started the updates. You did make one, RIGHT??
Over the next few weeks we’re going to be going through or worship computers and making sure they are running the latest versions of all the software we use. This gives us plenty of time to make sure nothing is broken and our volunteers are trained on any changes in the programs. When we start back full force with no pandemic restrictions, we’ll be able to hit the ground running with no worries about dismissing that pesky update notification.
